Still/Awake -- May 2017
Still/Awake, a site-responsive dance installation performance, seeks to illuminate our relationship with plastic and how we can become aware of its impact. Inhabiting a forgotten alley space, dancers create an eerie, dreamlike landscape through movement, found-object ambient sound, text, voice and plastic wrap, lids, shovels and toys. Still/Awake questions how humans care for one another in a plastic filled world and how we deal with this awakening for generations to come. Sometimes ghostlike sometimes agitated, dancers weave through the alley and the multi-aged audience revealing humanity’s compulsive yet apathetic connection with plastic waste.
